Description
A model of the deflection of a jet travelling through the pipe mouth is developed. This model assumes that the jet is deflected by the acoustic pressure gradient in the direction perpendicular to jet travelling and the aerodynamical instability of the jet itself. Due to the instability, the growth factor of the deflection becomes exponential. A condition on which an experimental E4 organ pipe sounds is examined. The sound is simulated by means of the physical modeling method. The simulated pipe behavior is compared with that found in an actual pipe. Similarities and differences found in the transition between oscillation regimes are discussed.
