Description
A method of measuring antenna sheath impedance of GEOTAIL spacecraft in the earth′s magnetosphere is described.Since a wave form of calibration signal used for the measurements contains many frequency components(up to 4 kHz),a frequency response of the sheath impedance(admittance)can be obtained.From the frequency response curve,an equivalent circuit of the impedance in the sheath region has been reduced. The measurement result exhibits consistent values of equivalent resistance and capacitance in the sheath region.Since the time resolution of the mesurement is extremely high,a change of impedance during the period of the spacecraft spin has been obtained.
