Description
Proximity Service (ProSe), which enables user equipment (UE) to discover other UEs in proximity and to communicate directly without passing core network, is being standardized as an important factor of LTE-Advanced in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The motivations of introducing ProSe are 1) to provide new services enabler 2) to improve spectral efficiency and to reduce the core network load 3) to reduce UE's transmission power 4) to support Public Safety functionality. In this paper, we study on the co-channel operation of device to device direct communication and cellular communication which can achieve high spectral efficiency, and evaluate its effectiveness and problems by system level simulation.
