Description
1. The splitting action of serum-lipase as well as milk-esterase is augmented by reduction and retarded by oxidation.
2. Serum-lipase inhibited by atoxyl or quinine is also activated slightly by reduction.
3. Milk-esterase is present only in human milk, and absent in cow and goat milk.
4. Milk-esterase splits the simplest ester.
The authors are greatly indebted to Prof. K. Kodama for his kind criticisms and suggestions throughout this research.
