Description
The quality in a manufacturing process is usually controlled, using Shewhart control charts (SCC). The phenomena of seven kinds of instabilities observed in SCC are defined in the Japanese Industrial Standards. In this paper, the incidents of the instabilities are statistically calculated. It is found that most instabilities will happen with same probability of nearly one thousands. That is, there is a criterion statistically equal to all instabilities in SCC. It is furthermore discussed that the criterion should be decided with a view to minimum cost. The conditions of instabilities corresponding to suitable criterion are proposed.
