Description
Digital signal processors have evolved various architectures to achieve high speed realtime processing for their specialized applications. Therefore, the traditional code optimization for general purpose micro-processors cannot cover all of various DSP's. Thus, special code optimization is required for each DSP at present. In this paper, we present a new common code optimizing technique for several DSP's having different architectures. A new idea called "calculation stage" is introduced into the intermediate code, which stores architecure dependent knowledge. The proposed technique is applied codes hove been optimized at the level comparable to special optimization for each DSP.
