Description
Conical transducers with weighted velocity distribution can create Bessel-type limited-diffraction beams. We presented discretely weighted structures for conical transducers and examined their focusing properties theoretically. In this paper a discretely weighted conical transducer is fabricated and its radiation fields are examined experimentally. It is shown that an 8-element weighted conical transducer having the diameter of 25mm, apex angle of 172° operating at 3.6MHz can create sound fields that have the FWHM of 6λ-9λ over an axial range of 10mm-200mm.
