Description
In this paper, the cast-in-place concrete piles using the semi-rigid pile head connection method, were tested to investigate their shear strength. Test results showed that there were three failure patterns which were the shear failure of pile, the shear failure of pile head, and the slip failure of connection part. The shear failure of pile occurred under the compression axial force, and the shear failure of pile head occurred under the zero or tension axial force. The modified Arakawa's equation and Truss-Arch mechanism equation were compared with the shear strength of those failure patterns, and the applicability of the equations was investigated. The slip failure of connection part occurred under the tension force. The shear strength of Dawel effect and the shear friction for the connection part were discussed. It was shown that the Mattock's shear friction equation was applicable for the shear strength of the slip failure.
