A systematic revision of the ctenodactylids of Asia reveals that the species formerly referred to Tataromys (s. l.) belong to three groups : Tataromys (s. s.), Yindirtemys and a new genus Bounomys, which constitute a subfamily, the Tataromyinae. Leptotataromys Bohlin, 1946,is considered a junior synonym of Tataromys (s. s.). Karakoromys not only is a valid genus but also represents a new subfamily of the Ctenodactylidae, Karakoromyinae. Terrarboreus and Woodomys are thought to be junior synonyms of Karakoromys. Sayimys and other later ctenodactylids form the third subfamily, Ctenodactylinae, which is closer to the Karakoromyinae than to the Tataromyinae. The Distylomyidae are suggested as a subfamily of the Ctenodactylidae, Distylomyinae, and a sister group of the Ctenodactylinae. The Cocomyidae have nothing to do with the Theridomyoidea, but are a member of the Ctenodactyloidea. The Ctenodactyloidea include 5 families which form two groups : the Cocomyidae, Tamquammyidae and Ctenodactylidae represent the main stem; the Chapattimyidae and Yuomyidae form a side branch. The Evanantoniidae Shevyreva, 1984,is excluded from the Ctenodactyloidea.
