Description

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate, KH_2PO_4 (abbreviated as KDP), belongs to one of important groups of hydrogen-bonded ferroelectrics. This compound which is ferroelectric below 123K has been much discussed because of comparatively simple crystal structure. The first static theory of the phase transition for KDP was proposed by Slater in 1941. According to the concept of the geometric isotope effect, it seems that we can explain the change of transition temperatures between KDP and DKDP, based on the Takagi model. Assuming that the dynamical mechanism of the phase transition in DKDP is essentially the same as in KDP.
