This papers deal with the leveling machine for seedling bed, which is the labor saving device in agricultural work. In order to make a seedbed flat, the leveling machine vibrates by the rotary motion of the eccentric rotor and presses the ground. It is found that at a specific rotating speed, the machine can run itself, although the operators usually pull the machine using leads to move. The purpose of this study is to investigate the operational traveling mechanism of the leveling machine experimentally. Traveling speed increased significantly under the condition that the rotary frequency is equal to the natural frequency of the torsional mode in phase of the plate. In this condition, the both ends of plate moved over the oval orbit which major axis is inclined to running direction, due to the torsional mode. It is considered that this motion of the plate push the ground backward strongly, hence the machine can run forward.
