Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the properties composite resin for crown restoration and resin cement after X-ray irradiation. A commercial composite resin for crown restoration, Estenia C&B DA3 (EST: Kuraray, Tokyo, Japan), and a resin cement, Panavia F2.0 (PAN: Kuraray, Tokyo, Japan), were selected and irradiated at 10 and 100 Gy. The effects of irradiation compared to control (no-irradiation, 0 Gy) were evaluated using the three-point bending test according to ISO 4049. The flexural strengths±s.d. of EST and PAN of no irradiation (0 Gy) were 183.31±16.41 and 89.62±7.41 MPa, respectively and those irradiated with 10 Gy were 180.66±20.59 and 87.28±7.55 MPa, respectively. All pastes irradiated with 100 Gy except Paste B of PAN were already almost cured and could not be evaluated. These results suggested that the effect of X-ray irradiation with less than 10 Gy to composite resin paste had no significant effect.
