Description
For computational science and others, COTS servers are widely spread as a compute node of large computing cluster systems because of their better performance per unit power and performance per price. Lately this kind of server platform adapts several technologies to accelerate I/O performance of standardized interface like TCP/IP and MPI directly or indirectly. I will introduce a few of these technologies Intel is implementing. These are the I/OAT which can offload TCP/IP processing, and the MPI which can dynamically select communication means.
