Description
This paper proposes a unified model that can be applied to the premixed and diffusion flames based on the author's premixed combustion model. The proposed model has the following features. [1] It includes the laminar burning velocity and the mixture fraction gradient as parameters. [2] It considers effects of pressure, unburned gas temperature, and flame stretch through the laminar burning velocity. [3] The effect of turbulence is considered through the turbulent eddy viscosity. [4] The effect of preferential diffusion is considered through the author's model that evaluates fuel concentration variation on the flame with curvature. To verify the accuracy of the model, a H_2/N_2 lifted flame in vitiated coflow conducted by Cabra was numerically simulated. The temperature and mixture fraction profiles were in good agreement with the experimental data. These comparisons with the experimental data and this agreement confirmed the proposed unified model was able to accurately simulate a lifted diffusion flame.
