Abstract

Vehicle queue can emerge at an intersection in a road due to vehicles being made stop by a red signal, which may depend on both incoming and outgoing vehicle density, and also depend on the signal period and vehicle speed. This article will discuss the dynamics of vehicle queue generation with respect to time at an intersection point. A comprehensive quantitative formula will be derived for congestion queue growing and diminishing.
