Description
As speed of sound is used to characterize biological tissue, so complex acounsitic impedance can also be used to assess bone density and to avaluate viscoelastic properties of live tissue which can then be expressed as an electrical equivalent circuit. We have developed a method for measureing both speed of sound and complex acoustic impedance in small biological tissue sample using a fused quartz rod as a transmission line. Since a thin solid line is used, the method makes it possoble to measure the speed of sound or complex acoustic impedance of a samll region.
