Description

With a view to realizing Broadband ISDN,it is becoming more important to achieve ultrahigh-speed opticalcommunication systems. One promising approach is the optical soliton communication,which does not change its waveform over long distances.In this paper,we report the recent progress in optical soliton communication using erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and discuss future prospects for optical soliton technologies.We also describe the optical soliton control technology which will be a key technology in all-optical high-speed communication in the future.
