Description

Significant breaking force decrease is rarely reported by the drivers, who operate trains in snowstorm, even if the snow proof braking switch is turned on, and several severe head-on collision have been caused by these phenomenon. To reappear the phenomenon, various researches and investigations have been done, but, none of the indication has not found yet. After several bench experiments, the authors found that the braking force was significantly decreased when the massive partially melted fresh snow, which is put on the head of the shoe, is supplied to the slit between the wheel tread and the brake shoe.
