Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the application of music for exercise. The functions of sound are (1) protection of life from danger (warnings, etc.), (2) other communication, (3) catharsis, and (4) creation of an environment of sound. The effects of music during exercise ware as follows: (1) promoting motivation for exercise; (2) masking noises and increasing concentration; (3) providing tempo for movement; (4) reducing mental fatigue; (5) Increasing a sense of self-sufficiency and (6) reducing anxiety. The classifications of music for exercise ware as follows: (1)Direct Effect on Exercise: rhythmic dance, artistic dance, gymnastics, simple exercise and motion dictated by music; (2) Indirect Effect on Exercise: creating a sound environment, encouraging relaxation and providing mental stimulation.
