Description
This paper deals with the design and the vibration analysis of the cylindrical tool horn with a circular arc side used in an ultrasonic plastic welder by means of the FEM. The amplitude distribution on the end surface of the horn is examined from the results of the FEM vibration analysis executed under a variety of shapes of the circular arc. As a result, the optimal shape of the circular arc side is decided for the variable parameter D_1/L (D_1 : the end diameter of the born, L : the length of the horn), and the design method of the horn is given.
