Description

When a white light emitting diode(LED) is modulated, there is a time lag between the blue and the yellow light. This study revealed the luminescence characteristics of the modulated white-LED and the change of its spectrum. The white-LED was modulated with pulse, trigger, ramp, and sinusoidal waves. When a pulse width was 500ns, the blue, the white, and the yellow lights appeared sequentially. When a pulse width was 60ns, the white, the yellow lights appeared sequentially. In addition, the blue, the yellow, and the white appeared well by trigger, ramp, sinusoidal wave modulations, respectively. We found that the white-LED can change the luminescence ratio of the blue to the yellow with the modulation frequencies and its shape.
