Description

For the purpose of the home health monitoring, heart and respiratory rates during bathing was attempted. It's known photoplethysmogramy (PPG) signal includes both heart and respiratory components. Therefore resiratory rate can be obtained from the PPG signal. In experimental procedure, the PPG signal was measured with optical fiber, and to evaluate respiratory component, plethysmogram respiratory rate was measured by thermistor simultaneously. Then obtained signals was analyzed by means of FFT and wavelet transformations. Especially, correlation between PPG and respiratory rate was examined during bathing. As a result, respiratory rate obtained by nosal thermistor was evaluated from the analyzed PPG signal at rest and during bathing. Now, measuring respiratory rate was possible with unrestrained, and possibility of health mnitoring during bathing was suggested.
