Description
The acoustics building at NTT's Musashino R&D center has been replaced. The new building includes an anechoic room and a reverberation room. In designing the rooms, the specifications were improved, as were acoustic characteristics, such as the soundproof characteristics, to handle the increasing environmental noise from the urban area that has developed around the R&D center. In the anechoic room, sound absorber wedges with a 50-Hz cutoff frequency were installed, and deviation within±0.5 dBs from the inverse square law has been realized in the range up to 20,000 Hz. The background noise level in the room was-2 dB(A) when the air-conditioners were in operation. In the reverberation room, the reverberation time was about 29 and 15 seconds, respectively at the 125-Hz and 500-Hz bands. The background noise level in the room was 18 dB(A).
