Description
In general, OCR software does not recognize scientific documents including mathematical expressions. Therefore, we are developing mathematical OCR using Japanese OCR. In this reserch we propose a method of high speed character recognition, adapted to mathematical symbols in printed Japanese scientific documents. We proposed a new method of segmentation of Japanese area and Mathematical area in a line, using Japanese OCR engine and ours aimultaneously. Our former method used inside infomations of the Japanese OCR engine and is not suitable to the general use. Our new method does not depend on special OCR engines and is widely usable.
