The values of substituent entropy constant σ_<s°> of sym-disubstituted benzene derivatives have been determined by inter- or extrapolation of the linear relation between five observed values and those of monosubstituted benzene derivatives.Analysis of the quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) by means for σ_<s°> thus estimated, together with the additional descriptor μ^2/α, is shown to be more effective than approaches hitherto used for the evaluation of actinidin-catalyzed hydrolysis of substituted phenyl hippurates, and the reaction between thiamine and substituted aniline derivatives with hiaminase.
