Description

In this report, basic characteristics of the third order PLL oscillator are discussed with comparison of the second order PLL. For the third order PLL, the additional capacitor of the loop filter is repressed as a coefficient m. In following discussions, influences by m on the spurious level, the phase noise and the switching speed are formulated and calculated. As results of above discussions, it is described that the spurious level is improved and the phase noise and the switching speed are degraded with the third order PLL schematics.
