Description
In recent years, disturbance of diet has become a problem in many countries. Disturbance of diet is caused by the fact that people are not so conscious of appropriate time to eat meals as well as appropriate amounts of the meals. Accordingly, estimating the hunger feeling which is one of the human sensory states may help alleviating this problem. However, estimation of human sensory states often requires invasive measurement by injuring human body with a special and expensive device. In this paper, we propose a method for estimating hunger degree of a user at arbitrary time from the information of meals and exercises that the user has taken. We construct the hunger degree estimation model consisting of two steps: (1) the blood glucose level from meal and exercise information and (2) the hunger degree from the blood glucose level. To evaluate the proposed method, we measured the blood glucose level of a subject at some points of time as well as the user's meal and exercise information, and applied the measured data to our proposed estimation model. As a result, we observed a strong correlation between the measured and the estimated blood glucose level and between the subjective and the estimated hunger degree.
