LiF crystal with F3+ color center has been demonstrated to be a nonlinear material for 460 nm light and generate a phase conjugate wave by the degenerate four-wave mixing method. It is shown that the nonlinearity of the F3+ centers is caused by the saturation of optical absorption.© (1996) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
