Study on Reducing Aerodynamic Random Noise from a Cavity

説明

High-speed trains radiate high intensity aerodynamic random noise from open cavities with bogies. In this paper, we examined the noise generation mechanism and how the noise can be reduced by experiments and simulations. It was found that countermeasures at the downstream edge of a cavity are effective regardless of the flow profile upstream of the cavity, and that a scoop deflector can stabilize the fluctuating flow at the downstream edge and reduce low-frequency noise from the edge; moreover, a porous material set at the downstream edge can attenuate abrupt acceleration of vortices around the edge and minimize sound generation.
