An adaptive control method of total artificial heart based on peripheral vascular resistance

説明

The present study has proposed a new design strategy to control the artificial heart which can avoid the problem of deciding the reference value of cardiac output. This has been realized by use of peripheral vascular resistance (R) on the basis of adaptive and decoupling control theories. Computer simulation demonstrated that the proposed controller could behave in a similar manner to Abe's 1/R control method which also uses information on R. However, our method does not have any unknown parameters which must be sought in a trial and error manner in the case of the 1/R control method.
