We are pleased to respond to the comments on our ASSORT (Administration of Statin on Acute Ischemic Stroke Patient) trial from Dr Scheitz et al1 as well as the Editorial.2,3 These Editorial and Letter are in the same line. The first is the limitation of estimated effect size from observational studies to design the ASSORT trial. The second is the impact of baseline severity on the statistical significance of effects of early administration of statin therapy on outcomes. We agree to that our estimated effect size was larger than the actual effect size, which inevitably resulted in the failure of statistical significance.
