Monte Carlo simulation of electron transport behavior in liquid argon

説明

Electron transport behaviour in liquid argon is studied using a Monte Carlo method in which the differential cross section defined by Van Hove (1954) for the interaction of an electron with liquid atoms was considered instead of two mean free paths, Lambda /sub 1/ and Lambda /sub 0/ of Cohen and Lekner (1967). The drift velocity and the mean energy of electrons for the field strengths between 10/sup 3/ and 10/sup 4/ V/cm were in good agreement with those obtained by using the Cohen-Lekner equation. The ratio of the injected electrons from a cathode into the liquid to those into vacuum agreed reasonably well with experimental values. >
