<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The arylcyclohepta(d)isoxazolones (I) are reduced and then halogenated to yield the chlorodihydro derivatives (III) which undergo base‐induced intramolecular cyclization, forming the arylisoxazolonorcaradienes (IV).</jats:p>
