<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Coupling of the methoxymethyl sulfide (I) with the carbonyl compounds (II) yields the α‐hydroxy O,S‐acetals (III) which undergo rearrangement and cleavage, forming the α‐phenylsulfenyl aldehydes (IV).</jats:p>
