<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>We derive the general expression for the diffusiophoretic mobility of a cylindrical particle oriented parallel to an applied electrolyte concentration gradient field in a symmetrical electrolyte solution. From the general mobility expression as combined with an approximate analytic expression with negligible error for the electric potential distribution around a cylinder, an accurate analytic mobility expression is obtained, which is applicable for arbitrary values of the particle zeta potential and the electrical double layer thickness. It is also found that the low zeta potential approximation is an excellent approximation for low‐to‐moderate values of the particle zeta potential.</jats:p>
