Reconfigurable ultra-wideband frequency selective surface

説明

In this paper, we propose the design of a new reconfigurable frequency selective surface (FSS) for ultrawideband (UWB) applications. The proposed FSS is constituted of a periodic array of two layers, of crossed metallic tapered dipoles, separated by a single-layer FSS and related by a twin wire transmission lines. With the proposed configuration, two propagating paths are formed. One path through the transmission lines and the second path allows the propagation through the interlayer FSS. Therefore, a corresponding bandpass can be obtained when the incident waves pass through the connecting transmission lines and a corresponding band-stop is achieved when the incident waves incoming on the interlayer which is band-stop UWB FSS. By inserting switches between the crossed tapered dipoles and the transmission lines, the obtained response can be controlled. Hence, reconfigurable UWB bandpass/stop can be achieved. Providing, an optimized candidate for UWB communications and radar systems.
