<jats:p>This paper studies free flexural vibrations of a confocal elliptical ring-shaped plate using Mathieu functions and modified Mathieu functions which are solutions of the differential equation of motion. We give the procedure leading to the frequency equations by making use of the orthogonal property of Mathieu functions in order to satisfy the boundary conditions. Some numerical results are shown graphically in comparison with experimental ones.</jats:p>
