<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>A new strategy for the synthesis of 6‐hydroxyalkyl‐ and 6‐hydroxyaralkyl‐6<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>‐dibenz[<jats:italic>c,e</jats:italic>][1,2]oxaphosphorin 6‐oxides <jats:bold>3</jats:bold> was achieved by the reaction of 2‐(2‐hydroxyphenyl)phenylphosphonic acid (<jats:bold>1</jats:bold>) with various carbonyl compounds <jats:bold>2</jats:bold>. The desired products <jats:bold>3</jats:bold> were obtained in acceptable yields.</jats:p>
