Innovative development of electromagnetic induction-based fluid-heating system using resonant PWM inverter

This paper presents a novel prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction-based fluid heating appliance using a series capacitor-compensated load resonant high-frequency IGBT inverter, which operates using phase-shifted PWM and a power factor correction scheme. Its operating characteristics in a steady-state are illustrated and evaluated on the basis of computer-aided circuit simulation and experimental results. Promising cost-effective applications of this electromagnetic induction-heated fluid heating appliance are proposed including induction-heated boilers, induction-heated dryers and induction-heated hot air producers, which are more suitable for industrial, chemical and consumer utilization from a practical point of view.
