説明

Summary For the integration of design and manufacturing activities, it is important to have product models which represent all the necessary information for machine products under consideration. Several research works have been already carried out, but still it is not clear how to actually construct product models in a consistent manner. Here we propose a method combining the first order predicate logic and object-oriented approach for the model description. We deal with geometric constraints, such as dimensions, tolerances and assembly by this description method. With the aid of first order logic, we manipulate relations that appear in machine assembly in terms of geometry. And object-oriented approach helps us represent attributes of objects in an abstract way. We developed a prototype system based on this concept and some examples of assembly description, tolerance distribution and disassemblability verification are shown.
