and physical restraint stress. These conditions are known to cause depression in mice. In wet floor, female mice were in cages with water-filled floor for 12h at day 5.5pc. For physical restraint, female mouse was put into a restraint instrument for 1h repeatedly from day 5.5 to 7.5pc. Peripheral corticosterone levels were measured as a biomarker to assess the depressive stimulations. Additionally, miscarriage rate was evaluated by sacrificing at 15.5pc. Results: Following physical restraint stress, the corticosterone level increased rapidly, while no remarkable change after wet floor stress. The abortion rate was around 25% among control mice, and the rate was unchanged after physical restraint stress. Under wet floor stress, all the fetuses were aborted after 24h exposure. When the stress was reduced to 12h, abortion ratewas unexpectedly reduced to 14%. Conclusions: We found peripheral corticosterone can be a biomarker for psychological stress in physical restrain condition. Psychological stress affected the abortion rate by wet floor condition, not by physical restraint. Our study suggested that depressivemental state inwomenwith RPL might be associated with the increased rate of miscarriage in the following pregnancy.
