Performance of route-information based prioritization (RIBP) for ATM networks

説明

The route information-based prioritization (RIBP) scheme per VC (virtual connection) on ATM networks aims to improve both the total and minimum transmission efficiency by reducing the total number of incomplete transmission cells (or packets), especially for data transmission. RIBP gives priority weighted by route information - the location of nodes which make a connection, and cell drop probability on those nodes - for each VC, and operates prioritized queueing at output buffers with those priorities. We simulated the RIBP scheme on some network models and examined its performance. We also made a prototype which implemented RIBP for ATM networks, and confirmed its behavior.
