説明
ABSTRACT Double nanohole apertures in metal lms have proven to be ecient plasmonic devices for trapping nanoparticlesas small as single proteins. 1 To date, this technique has relied on weak transmission far beyond the wavelengthcuto , ignoring the prospect of plasmon eld enhancement. In this work we present details on the design andfabrication of arrays of nanoring apertures on gold lms. These devices feature ecient light localization in smallgaps similar to double nanohole apertures, but additionally bene t from surface plasmon resonances in the nearinfrared spectrum. We perform polarization-resolved spectrometry on the arrays and discuss their potential fornanoparticle trapping. Keywords: optical trapping, light polarization, nanohole, plasmonics, self-induced back action 1. INTRODUCTION Since the advent of optical tweezers in 1986 2 there have been extensive e orts to achieve nanoparticle trap-ping and manipulation. 3,4 The electromagnetic eld con nement by metal nanostructures has been shown tobe ecient for achieving nanometer-scale optical potentials with moderate powers.
