Development of a System Using the APIHook Function to Protect Personal Information Leakage from USB Memory

Description

The Japan Network Security Association reports that leakage through removable memory caused by unauthorized operation has increased. The incidence of business-related information leakage has increased, which has resulted in many legal issues and trials. This paper focuses on information leakage through a PC from USB memory and proposes an information leakage measures system on the USB device that can prevent information leakage due to unauthorized operation or a PC computer virus. This can be achieved using the APIHook function on the PC. The proposed system was implemented on a PC and USB device. As well, the functionality, safety, and performance of the implemented system were evaluated.
