Time sidelobe reduction technique with small S/N loss for binary-coded pulse compression

説明

The time sidelobe reduction technique using TSSWA (two-sample sliding window adder) twice is known to be effective for binary-coded pulse compression. The S/N loss induced by the double TSSWAs is estimated and the performance of the double TSSWAs is compared with other mismatched filter techniques in terms of the PSL (peak sidelobe level) and S/N loss. It is then shown that, when compared at the same PSL, the double TSSWAs have better S/N performance than the conventional mismatched filter. Another result introduced is the performance of the proposed technique verified by the real wave of an actual radar system. It is confirmed that the PSL of the proposed technique is lower compared with the conventional in actual environments as well as in theory.
