A computerized visualization of gas-phase EHD flow field for needle-plane electrodes system
Description
For analyzing gas-phase electrohydrodynamical (EHD) phenomena, it is effective to get the characteristics of ionic wind. In this work, a numerical calculation code of the ionic flow field was developed because of insufficiency of the quantitative characterization from experimental measurements. The distribution of electric field and ion density were calculated with the Poisson equation and the electrical current continuity equation to analyze a gas-phase EHD flow field for needle-plane electrodes system by means of the Navier-Stokes equation of fluid flow motion with them. As a result, it became easy to understand the gas-phase EHD phenomena by a computer aided visualization. This paper shows some visualization results of the gas-phase EHD flow field with corona discharge.
