Assessment Of Oxygen Transfer In Hyperbaric Dual Mode Liquid-type Oxygenator For ECMO

0ABsTRAa A hyperbaric membrane oxygenator made of ethylene and vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVALO) was developed for ECMO. Either gas carrier solution oxygenated with hyperbaric (up to 1460 mmHg) oxygen gas (0,) was perfused or hyperbaric 0 itself was ventdated extracapillarily while saline or &e blood was perfused intracapillarily in in vim experiments. Sherwood number increased as transmembrane pressure (?up) increased. Membrane resistance decreased as the TMP increased because oxygenated carrier solution shifts into the capillary. The membrane resistance was estimated to be zero at TMP This oxygenator can work either as an oxygenator and dialyzer in liquid-liquid mode or as an oxygenator in gasliquid mode. This can be effective for the ECMO patient especially associated with multiple organ failure. of 1060 mmHg.
