Abstract It has been found experimentally that the negative magnetostriction of Co85Nb15 amorphous alloy changes to positive values as Co is replaced by Fe, Mn and Ti, while its negative value is enhanced by Ni. The concentration trends by Fe and Mn can be explained in terms of pseudo-dipole interactions of magnetic atom pairs involved.
