Effect of Surface Impedance for Reducing Aerodynamic Sound from Circular Cylinder

*† This paper reports the effect of finite surface impedance set up on the cylinder for reducing aerodynamic sound radiation. The ideal surface impedance distribution is derived for the circular cylinder surface by using the compact Green’s function. The experiment to examine the effect of the surface impedance was conducted, where the effect was proved at the optimized impedance boundary condition. The Large Eddy Simulation was conducted to prove the effect, especially hydrodynamic characteristics of the flow around the cylinder.
