Soft X-ray emission in a low-current, repetitive vacuum arc
説明
Soft X-ray emission from a short vacuum gap, operated with arc discharges with a repetitive period of 1-10 microseconds and the peak current of 200 A, was investigated. It was found that the soft X-ray was emitted during the arc phase and in the period between the arc extinction and the subsequent breakdown. The current density at the time of X-ray emission is >10/sup 7/ A/m/sup 2/ at an operating voltage of 20 kV.
